Machining Stair Railings Using a CNC Wood Lathe

This video demonstrates how a multi-functional CNC wood lathe processes stair railings, including milling and grooving operations.
This is a relatively simple stair railing machining requirement. First, a face milling cutter is used to perform large-area rapid milling on both ends of the wood, shaping them into tenons. Then, grooves of specified dimensions are milled into the side of the workpiece.
The lathe used in the video is a 4-axis-linkage multi-functional CNC wood lathe. In addition to basic turning operations, this machine can perform various machining functions by installing other tools, enabled by its multi-function spindle. This spindle allowing linear movement in up-down and left-right directions—hence the term four-axis linkage.
