    • 3. Is a 4-tool magazine sufficient for a CNC wood router? What if a complex workpiece requires more tools?

      For the vast majority of woodworking applications, a 4-tool magazine is more than sufficient. It easily covers the most common machining sequence, including cutting, profile milling, drilling/grooving, and engraving, allowing multiple operations to be completed automatically without manual tool changes.

      For more complex workpieces requiring five or more cutting tools, there are two practical solutions:

      • Optimize the machining process by combining compatible operations with a single tool whenever possible. For example, the same tool may be used for both drilling and hole enlargement, reducing the total number of tools required.
      • Customize the tool magazine to accommodate five or six tools, depending on your specific production requirements.

    • 4. Can a 4-station ATC CNC wood router machine four completely different workpieces at the same time?

      No. The four-station ATC CNC wood router is designed primarily for high-volume, standardized production of identical workpieces. Because all four machining stations share the same CNC control system and Y-axis, they execute the same machining program simultaneously and therefore cannot process four completely different parts at the same time.

      However, the machine supports single-spindle operation. When only one workpiece needs to be machined, operators can activate a single machining station while keeping the remaining three stations idle. This provides the flexibility to handle prototype production, custom orders, or small-batch jobs without sacrificing the productivity advantages of a four-station machine for large-scale manufacturing.

    • 5. Do all four stations of the four-station CNC wood router have to operate at the same time?

      No. The CK-1808-T4 allows each of its four spindles to be started and stopped independently, enabling operators to activate only the number of machining stations required for the current production task.

      For prototype machining, custom orders, or small-batch production, a single station can be used while the remaining stations remain idle, avoiding unnecessary energy consumption. When high-volume production is required, two, three, or all four stations can operate simultaneously to machine identical workpieces, significantly increasing productivity.

    • 6. When is a four-station ATC CNC wood router the right choice?

      The CK-1808-T4 is designed for manufacturers with higher requirements for productivity, machining accuracy, and automation. Unlike conventional multi-station CNC routers with fixed spindles, it is specifically engineered for complex, multi-process batch production.

      First, it is best suited for workshops with a stable demand for high-volume production of identical workpieces. Its four machining stations can process four identical parts simultaneously, significantly increasing output while reducing labor requirements and floor space compared with operating multiple single-station machines.

      Second, because all four machining stations are integrated into a single machine, the effective machining area of each station is relatively compact. As a result, the CK-1808-T4 is most suitable for the batch production of small to medium-sized workpieces.

      Finally, if your products require multiple machining operations—such as grooving, drilling, milling, edge trimming, and engraving—the automatic tool changing (ATC) system can perform these operations continuously without manual tool changes. This not only improves production efficiency but also enhances machining consistency and repeatability.

      If your products require only simple machining operations, have relatively low accuracy requirements, and are produced in large quantities, a conventional fixed-spindle multi-station CNC router is generally a more cost-effective solution.
